Cuneo, Lawson, Shay & Staley is pleased to announce the successful completion of our most recent on-site AICPA Peer Review. The firm received a congratulatory letter from the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, dated December 12, 2011, for having earned a peer review rating of "pass", the highest attainable evaluation report. The comprehensive examination included an evaluation of our quality control system for our accounting and audit practice. Actual financial reports issued by our firm were analyzed for compliance with all current accounting and audit requirements. Our firm is subject to such a review every three years.

Steve Staley holds the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) credential awarded by the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts (NACVA). The CVA credential is evidence of expertise in business valuations. Steve has prepared valuations of many businesses in different industries and for many different purposes. Steve also holds the Certified Forensic Financial Analyst (CFFA) credential awarded by the NACVA. The CFFA credential is the "CSI" of accounting. A Forensic Analyst is expert in using investigative accounting techniques to, for example, discover a fraud or embezzlement, to accurately measure a marital estate with less than full cooperation or to accurately assess the true earnings of an entity which has not been honestly reporting its earnings.
During September of 2008, Steve attended the Forensics Workshop for Financial Professionals sponsored by NACVA in Baltimore, Maryland, learning from and sharing with other leading forensic and valuation professionals.
During December of 2008, Steve attended the Matrimonial Litigation Support Workshop in San Diego, California. The Workshop provided opportunity to review the latest techniques being used by forensic accountants to assist attorneys and their clients with the matters of accurately assessing the marital assets and to assist in an equitable settlement thereof.
During November of 2009, Steve attended the Forensic Accounting Academy in Jersey City, New Jersey, sponsored by NACVA. The academy included in-depth training with the top tools and techniques used by forensic accountants in conducting investigations. The skills serve to enhance a CPA in virtually every aspect of the accounting profession. The techniques are applicable to tax, auditing, valuation, litigation and fraud investigations. The intensive five day course was lead by several of the nation's foremost forensic experts and the select group of attendees were all experienced industry veterans.
During November of 2010, Steve attended the Valuation Case Analysis and Current Update in Valuations in Chicago, Illinois, sponsored by NACVA. Each course is designed to enable valuation professionals to stay abreast of current issues facing the valuation industry. The courses are facilitated by leading valuation professionals and provide a forum for learning from and sharing with valuation professionals from all over the country.
